About UK Move Checklist
UK Move Checklist helps people moving home in the UK work out what to do, and when. Moving involves dozens of small jobs — giving notice, booking removals, telling the council, taking meter readings — and most of them have a right time. We bring them together in one place, in plain English, so you can get organised without piecing it together from lots of different websites.
Who it's for
Anyone moving home in England, Scotland, Wales or Northern Ireland: renters and homeowners, first-time buyers, families moving with children or pets, and people moving across the country or just down the road. Where the rules are different in each nation — for renting, tax on buying a home or smoke alarms, for example — we say so.

How we write our guides
We aim to make every guide something you can act on straight away:
- We answer the main question first, then give the detail.
- We check rules, deadlines and fines against official sources such as GOV.UK, mygov.scot, GOV.WALES, nidirect and the NHS, and link to them so you can check for yourself.
- When we quote a price, we name the source and the date it was published.
- We show when each guide was published or last updated.
